Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at the Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi who was the Romanian gymnastics coach who later became her coach in later years, discovered her at age six. Her first competition was at the national junior championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She took the title in the year 1970. She won three golds in her debut competition, a junior pre-Olympic meet in 1972, which was a communist bloc countries.
